After shopping in Ginza we headed to Meiji Shrine located close to the Harajuku train station. The shrine was amazing. Here's more information if you're interested:
Meiji Shrine Information
The scenery was beautiful:
We had to walk like three miles to get there, but luckily it was shaded.
Do I look tired in this picture? Because I am!!
What I saw when I looked straight up:
The torii at the entrance of the shrine.
Barrels of sake donated to the shrine. This was only half of them. That's a lot of sake!
The standard: rinse your left, then right hands & drink from your right hand for a good life.
These plaques are fortunes that people have written and left at the shrine.
There were literally thousands.
It was an octagon shape with all sides covered in prayers.
There were written in all different languages. It was pretty amazing.
Ashley's fortune... I loved it.
Some good prayers in general:
I wrote my own prayer to put in the prayer box (different from hanging a plaque).
We happened to be at the shrine on some sort of holiday or holy day. There were about 10 weddings happening. It was really interesting to see the formal dress and presentation of the wedding party.
This bride and groom are walking to an area to take pictures.
This is the bride and her traditional dress for a wedding.
The whole wedding party. :)
The groom looks happy ...
almost finished ...
much love,
